Smart Suggestions
Smart Suggestions recognise what a thing is about and offer the action that fits.
Why you'd care
A thing containing a flight number wants a different action from one containing a restaurant name. Suggestions remove the step where you copy the text into another app to do the obvious next thing.
How it behaves
You write. If the thing looks like a recognisable kind, an action is offered. You are never obliged to take it, and nothing is changed unless you do.

Seeing all of them in one place
There is a Smart Suggestions view, and it is the part people never find. It lays out every category as a tile with a count, so you can see at a glance that you have forty products and three flights sitting in your things. Tapping a tile shows the things in that category.
It is a way to read your own writing sideways: not by list or by day, but by what the things turned out to be about. Its header links straight to the settings below.
The view is off by default in the nav bar. Add it in Settings Your Features Customize nav bar if you want it one tap away.
Choosing which ones you get
Settings Smart Features Smart suggestion categories is a page of its own, because there is more here than a single switch.
Per category. Eighteen categories, each with its own toggle: products, food, contacts, movies, music, podcasts, games, books, places, hotels, flights, packages, birthdays, concerts and the rest. Turning one off does two things, not one. Twos stops generating that kind, and the ones already sitting on your things stop showing.
Per service, inside a category. Each category expands, behind a chevron, into the individual services it offers. Products can suggest Amazon, Walmart and Google, and you can keep one and drop the others. This is worth a minute if a suggestion keeps offering a shop you never use.
To-dos, reminders and calendar events are not on that page. They look like the same feature but they are not: they come from date and verb detection on your device rather than from the AI classifier, so they keep working with AI off entirely. They have their own settings, Settings Lists & Things Auto-prompt for to-dos and Settings Calendar & Reminders Detect dates and times in things, and the smart suggestions page links across to them.
Per list. A single list can opt out on its own, in that list's settings behind the ... menu. Useful for a reference list where every entry looks like a product.
One thing to know: the view is not filtered by any of this. A category you switched off still shows its tile and its historical count, because those things were already classified. You just will not see suggestions on them.
Going further
Suggestions, not automation. They appear, and they wait. Nothing is applied on your behalf.
Some become players. Music, video and map links can render as something usable rather than a suggestion to tap. See rich players.
One switch turns them all off. Settings Smart Features Smart Suggestions, independent of chat and Ask AI. Turning off a single category, or a single service inside one, is usually the better move.

- Settings Smart Features Smart suggestion categories picks which categories, and which services inside each.
- Settings Lists & Things Auto-prompt for to-dos and Settings Calendar & Reminders Detect dates and times in things control to-do and date detection, which are separate.
- Settings Smart Features AI features is the master switch.
Tips
- Leave them on for a fortnight before deciding. The useful ones are the ones you did not anticipate.
- If they feel intrusive, turn off the one category that is bothering you rather than the whole feature. It is usually one.
