Twos syncs with the calendars on your phone or tablet, and can push reminders back to them.

Why you'd care

If your meetings are in one app and your to-dos are in another, neither view is true. Sync puts both in one timeline, so "is Thursday busy" has an answer.

Before you start

  • The Twos app on your iPhone, iPad or Android phone.
  • Calendar permission for Twos at the operating system level.
  • Every calendar you want already on that device. A Google or Outlook calendar has to be added to the phone first, see below.

Google or Outlook on iPhone and iPad

Twos sees whatever the iPhone's Calendar app sees, so add the account there first.

    Add the account to the Calendar app

    Open the iPhone Settings app, then Apps → Calendar → Calendar Accounts → Add Account. Pick Google, or Microsoft Exchange or Outlook.com, and sign in.

    Turn on Calendars for it

    Make sure the account's Calendars switch is on. Open Apple Calendar to check its events appear there.

    Turn it on in Twos

    It now shows in the Twos list of calendars, under the account's name.

Google or Outlook on Android

Twos reads the calendars synced to the phone.

  • Google: a Google account signed in on the phone syncs its calendars to it. If one is missing, check the account's calendar sync is on in the phone's account settings, or open the Google Calendar app and make sure the calendar is ticked there.
  • Outlook: the Outlook app can share its calendars with the phone. Turn on Sync calendars in the Outlook app's account settings.

Connect

    Open the calendar settings in the phone app

    In the Twos app on your phone, open Settings, then Calendar & Reminders.

    Grant calendar access

    Approve the permission prompt. Without it nothing can be read or written.

    Choose which calendars

    Pick which of your calendars are read. Leaving out shared or subscribed calendars you do not care about keeps the view clean.

    Check it worked

    Open the Calendar view. Today's events should appear alongside your reminders, on the phone and, once it has synced, on the web and desktop too.

What comes across

Into Twos: event titles, times, durations and descriptions, from the calendars you selected. The event's description arrives as the thing's note, with the Meet, Zoom, Teams and Webex join blocks stripped out and the join link attached to the thing as its link instead.

Removing it

Disconnecting offers to remove the events Twos created. This matters: things Twos pushed out carry a marker so they can be cleaned up, and reminders that were never pushed are unaffected.

Settings that change this

Tips

  • Sync fewer calendars than you think. A birthdays calendar with 200 entries drowns everything else.
  • Push reminders out only if you share your calendar with someone who needs to see them.

If it's not working

Events show up twice. Usually the same calendar is subscribed twice at the device level, or reminders are being pushed out and read back. Turn off push and see whether the duplicates stop.

Nothing appears. Calendar permission is denied, or no calendars are selected.

My Google or Outlook calendar is not in the list. Twos only lists calendars the phone already has. On iPhone and iPad, add the account under Settings → Apps → Calendar → Calendar Accounts. On Android, make sure its calendar is syncing to the phone. See the sections above.

I cannot find calendar sync on the web or desktop. It is set up in the phone app only. The web and desktop show the events once your phone has synced them.
