Everywhere you are
Bear, Roam, NotePlan and other Markdown apps
Most note apps export Markdown, and Twos reads it. A few get extra care because of how they write their files.
Before you start
Export from your app as Markdown, and if it gives you a folder, compress it into a .zip so images come along. Then import it:
- Bear: select your notes, choose File, then Export Notes, and pick TextBundle with attachments. Compress the folder and import it in Settings Integrations Bear.
- Roam Research: choose Export All from the ••• menu and pick Markdown. Import the .zip in Settings Integrations Roam Research.
- NotePlan: compress the Calendar and Notes folders from where NotePlan keeps its files, and import the .zip in Settings Integrations NotePlan.
- Simplenote: choose Export Notes under Settings, then Tools, and import
notes.zipin Settings Integrations Simplenote. - Joplin: choose File, then Export all, as Markdown + Front Matter. Compress the folder and import it in Settings Integrations Joplin.
- Craft, UpNote, Heptabase, Tana, Reflect, Mem, RemNote, Supernotes, Notesnook, Anytype: export as Markdown and import in Settings Integrations More note apps.
- xTiles: click the ••• on a page tab, choose Export to, then Markdown. xTiles exports one page at a time, so export each page you want, then choose all the .md files at once in Settings Integrations More note apps.
What comes across
- Each note becomes a list, with headings, bullets, checkboxes, nesting, bold, links and #tags.
- Daily notes land on the day list for their date, when the note is named by its date. That covers Roam and Logseq daily pages, NotePlan's calendar notes and Obsidian daily notes.
- To-do markers from outliners come across as to-dos: Roam's
{{[[TODO]]}}, Logseq's TODO and DONE, and NotePlan's*tasks. - Images come across when you import a .zip, since they live beside the notes.
- Simplenote notes come across as things in one Simplenote list, with tags and pins, since its notes are small and many.
